Voor deze eerste Indiana Jones Film is er gefilmd op Kauai, vooral op de Kipu Ranch. De bergpunt op de eerste foto is elders op het eiland te vinden. De bergrug wordt wel omschreven als The Sleeping Giant. De punt van deze foto worden dan de gevouwen handen van de reus genoemd.
De filmreeks gaat over de avonturen van de archeoloog Indiana Jones, gespeeld door Harrison Ford.
